UIN Sayyid Ali Rahmatullah Tulungagung – Pascasarjana UIN Sayyid Ali Rahmatullah Tulungagung, happiness is often the dream of every individual, and people always long for happiness in their lives. This happiness is not limited to physical and spiritual well-being but also encompasses happiness in both worldly and spiritual (hereafter) aspects. This is the true essence of happiness. Based on the assignment letter from the Rector of UIN Sayyid Ali Rahmatullah Tulungagung, Number 3905/Un.18/08/2025, regarding presenters at the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM), Dr. H. Mashudi and Prof. Dr. Agus Eko Sujianto were appointed as speakers at the international forum with the seminar theme “On The Impact of Corruption, Unemployment, and Economic Growth on ASEAN People’s Happiness.”

The international seminar, held on Friday, August 15, 2025, at the Al-Shafie Meeting Room, Level 2, IRK Building, International Islamic University Malaysia, featured speakers including Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sayyed Mohamed Muhsin (Head, Department of Fiqh and Usul al-Fiqh, AHAS KIRKHS), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Raudlatul Firdaus Fatah Yasin & Asst. Prof. Dr. Saidatolakma Mohd Yunus (Contemporary Fiqh Research Unit, IIUM Malaysia), Assoc. Prof. Dr. H. Mashudi & Prof. Dr. Agus Eko Sujianto (State Islamic University Sayyid Ali Rahmatullah Tulungagung, Indonesia). Participants of the seminar came from various countries, including Sudan, Nigeria, India, Bangladesh, Palestine, Afghanistan, Malaysia, and Indonesia.

According to Muhsin, happiness is a human necessity. Without happiness, people will only experience sorrow, which makes them unproductive in both work and study. Raudlatul further argued that managing emotions is central to achieving happiness. Similarly, Akma explained that balanced emotions lead to personal peace and social harmony. In their research, Mashudi and Sujianto found that happiness, as measured by the happiness index, is significantly influenced by corruption, as measured by the corruption perception index, and economic growth, with their hypothesis testing showing verified results.

At the end of the event, the Coordinator of the Contemporary Fiqh Research Unit, IIUM, expressed the highest appreciation to the researchers and academics who had presented their key ideas for the advancement of knowledge, particularly regarding happiness and the variables that influence it. Moving forward, it is necessary to enhance both the quantity and quality of this international seminar collaboration to build a sustainable civilization collectively. fiq
